About Me
Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here!
I love working with clients of all ages and identities to discover their own strengths and worth. Starting therapy for the first time or with a new provider can be scary. I do my best to make the experience informative, helpful and hopefully a little fun. I am patient, affirming, warm and compassionate. I bring a sense of curiosity and humor to the therapeutic experience. I believe the therapeutic relationship is a collaborative one and work with my clients to explore what is getting in their way. Some of my specific areas of interest and experience are working with children and adults who are neurodivergent or have a neurodivergent child, sibling or partner and late-diagnosed folks. I also have experience working with children and adolescents who are in special education, have a 504 plan or an IEP. I work with folks experiencing anxiety, navigating relationships, and those who have experienced PTSD or complex trauma.
I completed my graduate degree in counseling therapy in 2006 at the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago. I have worked in community mental health, inpatient, therapeutic day schools and group practice before starting SCE Wellness in 2021. In 2011 I completed my yoga teacher training and I have taught yoga and meditation in schools, clinical settings and community centers to folks from preschool to older adults. I use a trauma-informed, mindfulness-based, relational framework. We may use body-integrative techniques if that feels helpful by utilizing my experience with yoga and meditation. I enjoy helping folks navigate life changes from changing schools or careers to navigating divorce and coparenting. I can also help you explore shame, grief, people-pleasing, relationships, the nervous system, the brain (how does it work!) and body-integrative practices.
My hope is to help you to better understand your feelings, set boundaries, find your voice and feel like you are enough. I will help you identify and utilize the strengths that you already have to make real and lasting change. It is important to me that my clients feel agency and power in this relationship. Together we will learn, collaborate on goals and explore helpful tools and techniques. It is my privilege to share in your journey of growth and understanding.
There are many things that fill my cup when I’m not in the office. I love reading, especially genre fiction and nonfiction about nature or social justice. We can absolutely talk about what you have read lately and I am happy to recommend books for both pleasure and growth/learning. I love animals and meeting your pets (and you may catch a glimpse of mine). I also love spending time in nature whether it's hiking, birding or just reading on the beach.
